libxml2 and libxslt

Postby AndyInSurrey » Sun Mar 07, 2010 12:11 pm

Hi,

I am still new to programming on the Mac, I am however proficient in writing C++ on a PC. Now, I am fairly familiar with using LibXml2 on the PC and I would like to setup LibXml2 v2.7.6 (latest version at time of writing) on my Mac so I can use it with XCode. I would appreciate if someone could explain how I can get the latest version of LibXml2, LibXslt etc, setup for use in XCode on my Mac, without having to install DarwinPorts. I tried to install DarwinPorts on my Mac earlier, but that doesn't seem to work properly on 10.6.2!

Thanks.

Hi Andy,

I think the problem may be Darwin Ports itself, which is kind of an older project. What you probably really want is Mac Ports:

My understanding is that Mac Ports branched off from Darwin Ports some time ago, and is a little more up-to-date for the latest versions of Mac OS X. I've been using it for years.

Jack,

MacPorts successfully installed along with libxml2-2.7.6 and it's three dependancies.

Thanks.
